Evaluation Question 1 - in what ways do your media products use, develop or challenge the forms and conventions of real media products?

Made with Padlet

Evaluation Question 2 - How does your media product represent social groups?

Evaluation Question 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Evaluation Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

My music magazine is 'OCEANS' it is aimed at young people aged 16-28 late twenties who are both female and male. This makes my magazine inclusive. This means that majority of my target audience will be teenagers, therefore will most likely to be in full education, in college, University or is working if their in their twenties. As my audience will be mainly teenagers and young adults, it is necessary to keep the price of the magazine at £1.99, this ensures its affordable for those who are in full time education as a result, my magazine will not exclude those who are not earning money. My magazine is inclusive as it targets to different audiences of different backgrounds and ethnicity, I have featured an Asian male and some white and black male artists. As there are different ethnicity featured in the magazine, readers will feel comfortable as they will be able to relate to the artists background culture and lifestyle. This will widen the target audience.

My target audiences value of life will be mostly spending time with their family and friends and going out on the weekends and holidays to concerts, clubs, youth clubs, shops and restaurants etc. Not only that they will have to focus on education as well, but at the same time they would want to enjoy life before they will have to take responsibility of their own lives when they are older and have their own families. The age range between 16-28 are most likely to spend their money on clothing's and fashion items as those in the age group are easily influenced in order to create a fashion trend. Other items would be electronic/media products, such as mobile phones, T.V, digital devices (cameras), I Pad/tablets and DVD's/subscriptions to music apps and online streaming apps(Netflix). The ideal reader of my magazine will shop from high street brands, such as office, Top Shop, Victoria Secret, H&M, Adidas, Size etc. They would shop in stores which will sell similar items to the clothing's my model in my magazine wears. This is because those who do not like the type of style or theme of my magazine will not shop at these stores. They would dress in co-ordination with the current trends, which is seen as fashionable, edgy and stylish.

The most popular smartphone's to use currently is IPhone's and Samsung devices. However IPhone's are much more popular between teenagers and young adults as they have the access to Face-time, imessenger, apps, cameras, and social networking. This would be ideal for my music magazine as my magazine can launch an app or or social media account to promote 'OCEANS'. This will create traffic and increase readership because young people are tend to spend a lot of time on their devices and on social medias such as Instagram, snapchat and twitter. For users to access to music they would usually download a music app like Spotify, Sound cloud or Itune's. Another alternative if they don't have enough storage space on their phones is accessing music through YouTube. From the apps mentioned they are able to listen to tracks, albums and the latest/trending music out there.

My primary audience is 16-28 years, which means they are most likely to be in the category group E/D according to the JIGNAR scale because they will mostly be students and young adults. The students will therefore be funded by their parents/carers who are mostly likely to be in the category ABC1. Due to this my magazine may have a secondary audience which is young adults - middle age, they are ideally parents or siblings of the students. To incorporate this aspect I have featured contemporary music artists which have listeners from different age ranges, such as Drake, The Weeknd and J.cole.  All these artists appeals to different age ranges which helps incorporate with my secondary audience.Image result for jicnar scale

I will have a sample of both female and male audiences between the ages of 16-28 years old's, to see what they think of my R'N'B/Urban Hip Pop magazine 'OCEANS'. I will record their thoughts and opinions and ask a few questions on:

1. What they think of my music magazine?
2. Does it appeal to their needs?
3. Would you recommend the product?
4. What are the strengths and weaknesses?
5. Is it worth £1.99?
6. Do the artists on the front cover appeal to them?
7. Does the photography attract them?
8. Is the magazine name memorable?

I asked three students in the age range between 16-28, it was important to ask these questions above as my magazine is aimed towards them. It was crucial to do this experiment as it will tell me if my magazine was successful or not.

Evaluation Question 5 - What did you do to attract/address your audience?
