Masthead research and analysis



This is the masthead for NME it is using a San-serif font which makes it informal and modern therefor giving it a older look. The colours "red", "black"and "white" gives it a contrasting effect, the black stroke around the "NME" makes logo stand out more.  The white stroke around the red fill adds a double effect which makes it more eye catching. The drop out shadow effect adds to this effect and makes it look more three dimensional .

This is a slasher masthead, it is using San-serif which shows its informal. The masthead uses monochrome colours, the background has a gradient effect from black to grey and then end up with white in the middle.The word masthead uses a design where the word 'slasher' is slashed in half diagonally, this supports and adds more effect onto the word slasher. Not only that there is a image of a knife in the masthead, it is in white to make sure it stands out in the word. The mast head is bold and black which grabs the audiences attention. This mastheads gives a scary and intense theme to it.

This masthead has a unique design of cracks and a crashed effect. The colour theme is  black and white which is flexible as it  can compliment any colour. the black stroke on the outside makes the word "kerrang!" stand out more. The masthead is informal as it has a exclamation mark to show the power of the music genre.

This masthead uses a serif font, The white stroke outline of the font makes the red stand out more. there is a grey drop shadow effect which gives it a three dimensional look. Rolling stone is a magazine, and it is very unusual for a magazine to be in this type of font because of this it attracts and grabs the audiences attention, the colour red is a bold bright colour which makes the readers spot the masthead first.

This masthead is very sharp and straight forward, it uses a basic black print of "vibe". The letters are all in blockheads and are of the same height and width, this gives the masthead a clean look with the San-serif font. The audience may think it is very urban because of the word itself and the design of the masthead. As there are no other details other than block letters, it makes the readers think it will be a straight forward and to the point type of magazine.
