The target audience for my magazine will be for both males and females, within the age range of 16 - late twenties. This is because people in this age range are more likely to listen to this type of music genre. The gender for my magazine will be for males and females, the percentage ratio will be 70:30. Males are of a higher percentage than females because in my opinion males are more likely to buy this type of music magazine due to the fact that males can relate to male rappers more and their masculine culture, whilst females are most likely to buy fashion magazines. I have ensured to include and target both genders so that no-one is excluded, this is meant that their occupation does not hinder who reads this magazine. Those who would read my magazine will need to have some sort of interest in r'n'b/urban hip pop music and culture, as if it grabs their attention it shows they are interested in the lifestyle of urban rappers. Readers who stereotypically read this magazine and listen to this type of music will most likely to shop at vintage or street wear brands for clothing, brands such as, Stussy, Nike, Adidas, Palace, Fred Perry Etc. This is because urban/hip pop rappers and artists are seen to be in to 'casual' costumes. Which results in the audience who are interested in this magazine to also like wearing street wear clothings, such as hoodies, sweatshirts, ripped jeans, caps and beanies. In the hip pop/urban culture, collecting trainers is a stereotype, they are seen as aspired to be interested in owning or do currently own high end streetwear costumes, like Bape, supreme, and Yeezys. The r'n'b and urban artists are into these clothing's which also inspires and influences the readers to be involved in their culture. This shows famous artists have a big influence on fashion trends.
The current audience who listens to this type of music are most likely to listen music on an app, such as spotify and itunes. Spotify is free to use, however you can get premium spotify which allows the users to access and make most of the app. Itunes involves buying albums or tracks individually, Itunes is only available on apple, which targets towards more apple users which is the current device most 16 to late twenties use. The target audience for this magazine is for teens and late twenties (younger generation), because of this the audience is will most frequently use social medias that are more fit to the younger generation, like Instagram, snap-chat and Twitter. Whilst the older generation in their late 30s are likely to use Facebook. This is because the famous celebrities and idols like Kylie Jenner, Tyga etc use Instagram and snap-chat the most, this then affects who it appeals to it. The audience will get inspiration from them as they're someone they look up to, this could be fashion and music wise. Those who are interested in this music genre will attend festivals like v festival, coachella and wireless as they feature the genres of r'n'b and urban/hip pop artists, female and male artists they may like are celebrities like G-eazy, DJ Mustard, Epik High, Stormzy, SIA and Katy B etc.
My target audience for my magazine will stereo-typically belong to the social grade of E lower-mid class, as hip pop/r'N'b/urban music is stereo typically seen as lavish, as they promote artists wearing gold chains which flaunts the rich life, people in the lower-middle class social groups aspire this lifestyle as people usually want what they can't achieve or have. Those of upper class are seen to stereo typically speak with a very posh dialect and full English, and follow a lavish and opulent lifestyle, this then affects who they associate with which affects the type of music they listen to. They are seen to listen to classical and instrumental music which fits in with the wealthy life. However, the social grade does not determine that just people of grade E listens to r'n'b/urban hip pop music. Within this social class, majority of the different ethnic groups will listen to this type of music, society is very diverse and multi-cultured which varies the fact that anyone of different backgrounds can listen to this type of music. For this genre of music it is stereo typically seen that black people are most likely to listen to it , this is because of their lifestyle and culture. However, society has changed and a range of different people listen to r'n'b/urban hip pop music. Due to this my magazine will target towards a variety of different racial backgrounds within the age range of 16 to late Twenties.
